Fashion (Trend Pool) Weekend in Paris

Together with Nina Kiesow and ‘Reisen mit Zeit’ the team FASHION TREND POOL spent an unforgettable weekend in Paris.

For Fashion Week, we were able to discover many exciting intersections of art and fashion on the Seine – from Christo’s shrouded Arc de Triomphe to the newly opened luxury department store Samaritaine.

Paris is always worth an inspirational trip – because to quote straight from Balenciaga’s latest Simpsons movie: This is Paris! Every minute is fashion week.

Milan, so that we can then take a close look at the trends for the next A/W season but one.

Art and culture

The new Pinault Collection in the Bourse de Commerce is the newest outlet for contemporary art in Paris. Opening in 2021, Kering boss Francois Pinault will display a selection of his 10,000-work collection in the former Mercantile Exchange. The building alone is very impressive. Also worth a visit is the great exhibition 100 Years of Vogue Paris – an inspiring journey through the fashion history, photography and typography of a century.

Christo’s wrapping

The absolute highlight of our trip was the covered Arc de Triomphe designed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. This final project by the artist, who died in 2020, shrouded the city’s landmark in 25,000 sq. ft. of

blue-silver glittering fabric and with 3,000 meters of red rope. A tribute to the city of Paris that could not be more impressive.

Storecheck & Streetwear

On the agenda were store checks and street styles – and a visit to Samaritaine, an Art Deco luxury department store reopened by LVHM right on the Seine.

But also the view on the streets showed: The Parisians live elegance and nonchalance more than ever!

Impressions

Walks through the atmospheric St. Germain de Prés in the evening and a view of the glittering Eiffel Tower illuminated in pink rounded off the inspiring days on the Seine.

Merci, Paris! C’était bien. See you again in 2022!
